A Message From USY Regarding Covid-19

Dear USY Friends,

We are continuing to monitor the reports of COVID-19 around North America and at this time, out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to cancel all USY regional and international programs through April 19, 2020.

USY is committed to providing your child and our staff with a safe and healthy environment while attending USY and Kadima programs and we feel that the best way to promote health at this time is to keep everyone at home. We will evaluate regional programs taking place from the last week in April – June by April 1.

We will be submitting refunds for the programs. Please allow a few weeks for us to process the refunds.

If you have questions about specifics for your region such as regional elections, chapter awards, etc., please speak to your branch staff.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will follow both CDC and local Health Department Guidelines. We will notify you with further updates.

Join us on March 15th at 3:30 EDT for our virtual program, Connecting While Disinfecting. Check out our Facebook page for the link.

Stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you soon! Hazak V’Amatz

Welcome to ECRUSY!

USY is USCJ’s youth group for Conservative Jewish teens across North America. For more than 60 years, USY has taught young Jews the values and skills they need to become exceptional leaders in their religious and secular communities. USY empowers youth to develop friendships, leadership skills, a sense of belonging to the Jewish People, and a commitment to inspired Jewish living through meaningful and fun experiences rooted in Conservative Judaism’s approach to learning, spiritual expression, and social responsibility. Through year round programming and domestic and international travel opportunities, USY inspires in teens a deep sense of pride in and love for their Jewish identity. To learn more, visit www.usy.org.

The Eastern Canadian Region of USY (ECRUSY), serving grades 6-8 with Kadima and 9-12 with USY,  offers programming through chapters at USCJ synagogues in Greater Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Hamilton, Halifax, St. Catherines, Kingston and London as well as at regional and international programs.

USY is the North American teen engagement program of the USCJ. USY offers year-round social, community service and Israel engagement programming for teens in grades 9-12, as well as summer travel experiences. USY teens benefit from meaningful and immersive Jewish experiences that help them integrate Jewish values and rituals into their lives.

Kadima, (meaning Forward in Hebrew) is the programming group for grades 6-8.  It has its own regional and chapter program schedule with the programs being social based which tie in Judaism, environmentalism, social activism and tzedakah.

The organization provides opportunities for teens to immerse themselves in Jewish and social activities while forming friendships that will last a lifetime!

Scholarship Information

No USYer should be excluded due to finances!

We understand that the cost of conventions can sometimes be difficult to afford, especially for multiple children. Most synagogues offer money to their teens for USY events. Did you know that ECRUSY also has a scholarship fund for regional events? Just download this form and turn it in with your registration. Scholarship forms are due by the first registration deadline.

Elections Handbook

Looking to get more involved on the Regional level next year? The updated elections application and handbook is coming soon! It will outline all the submission dates, roles and responsibilities.
